Novus International

THE COMPANY
At NOVUS International Inc., our core vision is to “help feed the world affordable, wholesome food.” To realize this vision, we work to create scientifically-based solutions that address the key challenges facing the global production of meat, milk and eggs.

NOVUS International Research Center is the core of Novus’s product development capability that is augmented by a worldwide technical network of university and institutes of collaborators. The company’s
motto “Performance through Innovation” is lived at the NOVUS International Research Center each day.
NOVUS International is a solutions provider and the science behind those solutions takes place on a daily basis at our facility. Our research facility houses over 40 research scientists and engineers that support a worldwide community of scientists and veterinarians supporting local development in China, Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and Middle East, North America and Latin America. The goal of this international scientific community is to differentiate our company and our products with the science we employ to understand how and why our products deliver value.

THE FACILITY

The facility is located in Saint Charles, Missouri just about 30 miles from the capital city of Saint Louis.
There are over 5,000 sq meters of space for experimental research and product development, including nine (9) scientific labs each equipped with state-of-the-art research equipment. Attached to the labs is an
Animal Research Facility where small animal biological models are developed and used for determining the mode of action of nutritional and animal health products that Novus develops. Additional animal research capabilities are located in the general vicinity of St. Charles as well as more distant locations within the continental Unites States.

AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION
There are two separate departments at the NOVUS International Research Center.

SERVICES
At NOVUS, we feel a deep responsibility to transfer the knowledge we gain and the technological innovations we develop to people around the world who can use them to improve agricultural practices
and in their local communities.
NOVUS International Research Center offers research placements of three to six months to AWARD fellows whose research proposals match the research and capabilities being conducted at the Center or with collaborating institutions. These research placements will increase the knowledge base and technical skills of the Fellows and help NOVUS understand the challenges that the AWARD Fellows face in their day-to-day careers. Each AWARD fellow will be assigned a supervisor who will serve as a mentor during the fellow’s time at the Research Center. Each fellow will also be assigned an office and lab space and will have access to support and administrative staff as appropriate.

SKILLS

At NOVUS International Research Centers, the scientists and engineers are dedicated to developing products, processes and methods that will provide solutions to our customers and expand the portfolio of products NOVUS delivers. We believe in sharing knowledge, collaboration, expanding personal capabilities and investing in innovative research.
Research at the NOVUS International Research Center offers the opportunity for fellows to build skills in many different scientific and technical fields. Some of these skills include Cell Culturing,
Spectrophotometry techniques, ELISA Assays, Radio-Label Assays, Histology & Real-Time PCR, Inductive Couples Plasma (ICP), Fourier Transform Infra-Red Technology (FT-IR), High Performance
Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography with Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Calorimetry, Particle Size Distribution, Time Consolidation Testing and many other methods common to our day to
day activities.

In addition, the NOVUS International Research Center has established research partnerships with respected universities worldwide and commercial testing facilities where extensive research is conducted.
Depending on the research proposal of the AWARD fellow, they may have the opportunity to visit and work at any of these external locations.

EXPECTATIONS

The AWARD fellow will be expected to generate relevant data backed with data analysis during the extent of stay at the NOVUS International Research Center. The fellow will be required to generate a monthly report to be submitted to her supervisor detailing the progress of work in that month. A detailed report/thesis should be provided at the end of the research placement. The AWARD fellow will also be required to give a presentation/seminar to a larger group. With the help of the supervisor and the friendly support staff at the NOVUS International Research
Center, the AWARD fellow will have the opportunity to have one of the most exciting and rewarding research experiences in their lifetime.
