Global Challenge: Cultvating Innovation: Solutions for Rural Communities

21 04 2009

With the generous support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Ashoka’s Changemakers, has launched “Cultivating Innovation: Solutions for Rural Communities” – a global online challenge to identify grassroots innovations that advance rural development and agriculture. We believe you have a passion for improving the lives of rural citizens around the world, and we need your help to reach the rural communities where the most creative solutions are being born. How does it work? The “Cultivating Innovation” collaborative competition invites citizens working to improve rural communities to submit their innovations to the competition website, http://www.changemakers.net. Entrants have the opportunity to receive feedback from the global community; connect with people with the resources to expand their projects; and win USD $5000 toward their initiatives! Entrants can create a profile and enter online until May 13th, 2009. Entries submitted by April 13th, 2009, are eligible to win a cell phone and digital camera! How can you help? • Enter: You could win USD $5000 toward your initiative, and gain the opportunity to connect with people with the resources to expand your project. Visit the site and bring your ideas to life! • Nominate: Do you know innovators – particularly women – who work to stimulate agriculture and improve the quality of life in rural communities? Visit http://www.changemakers.net/agriculture to share the story of someone who is cultivating change in the world, and influence the way people see their projects and the work of others! • Become a Partner: Share your wealth of experience or help us spread the word about the competition and gain the opportunity to join our network of media, enthusiasts and experts. Email us at jkamau@changemakers.net to get involved! Investors, enthusiasts and leaders in the field are keeping a close watch on the Changemakers platform. It’s a place where people come to look for the most ingenious solutions – to talk together, share stories, give and receive feedback, meet new friends and potential partners, vie for funding for their ideas and discover cutting-edge work.
