16 04 2009

Kampala — KIRANZI Abagamba Kamu women’s group of Mabaale sub-county in Kibaale district have got sh3m from The World Fund for Nature, under the Lake Albert eastern catchment management initiative to set up a tree nursery project.

Handing over the money and equipment on Wednesday, the senior environment officer, Animate Kashemire, told the group to use the funds for the intended goal.

“You are the first group to benefit from such a grant, so the success of this project will be the basis of other such grants,” Kashemire said. She expressed concern at the rate at which forests were being depleted in the district.

The acting forest officer, Wilson Kyamuhondeire, told the beneficiaries to always seek technical advice from his office.
